SMARTE Goals
SMARTE Goals refer to a set of school goals in some core academic areas. Ideally, these goals should adhere to the acronym SMARTE: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Timely, and for Everyone. The following are the SMARTE Goals for Wilson Middle School.
Reading
As measured by the Gates McGinitie reading test, all students below grade level on the fall assessment will make a minimum of 1.5 year's growth by the spring assessment. Students at grade level or above will make a minimum of one year's growth. Students who read at 12 th grade level or above in the fall will make a minimum increase of 3 NCE scale points.
Writing
As measured by the “Six Analytical Writing Traits Writing Assessment,” all students below the 3.0 writing standard will make at least one year's growth until they reach the 3.0 level. All others will increase to at least 3.5 level or better.
Math
As measured by the Wilson Mathematics Assessment, all 8th grade student exhibiting “non-mastery” in the math skill strands on the fall assessment will improve to “mastery” on the spring assessment.
As measured by the Glencoe Course 1 & 2 Transition Booklet pretest, all 6th and 7th grade students exhibiting “non-mastery” in the basic math skill strands on the fall assessment will improve to “mastery” on the spring assessment.
ELL
As measured by the District ELL Course Objectives, all ELL students will achieve the objectives for each level: 1, 2, 3, and 4 in the adopted time frame.
